The Dragonfly Plan is based on the principles of the ancient science of Ayurveda. Ayurveda uses food, lifestyle and herbs as medicine to keep you in balance or to bring you back into balance. Ayurveda believes that each of us were meant to live in balance and harmony and therefore in a state of bliss at all times. Ayurveda is believed to have come from a divine source. The legend is that it was handed down from God to humans through a lineage of sages in ancient India, who continued to develop and refine the practices through insight and deep mediation over five thousand years ago. These sages were not only holy men but also physicians. Ayurveda was a complete health care system for managing all aspects of health. Because Ayurveda views the human as a tripartite being Ayurveda addresses health and including it with spirituality and utilizing holistic methods for increasing longevity, healing disease, performing surgery, cleansing the body, and addressing ethical dilemmas and spiritual development.
Ayurveda continues to evolve without ever abandoning its original construction. In fact, an important part of Ayurveda is not to reject any aspect of medicine that could help the patient, so it does not preclude the use of modern Western medicine. If Ayurveda was used integrally with Western Medicine, I believe that we would have the perfect healthcare system. This integrative health care system would respect and address all aspects of the self - the physical, the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual to treat the whole person in ways that modern science is now confirming are effective.
It is an exciting time for Ayurveda. Western Medicine is becoming more and more accepting of Ayurveda and slowly beginning to recognize the importance of and incorporating Ayurveda’s methodology. As technology improves, it proves the efficacy of the methods of Ayurveda. As time moves forward, I believe that Ayurveda will naturally become an integral part of Western Medicine.
In Ayurveda, we look at three main body types. Every person has a part of each of these three body types, also known as doshas within their makeup. It is the amount of each body type(dosha) that each person has that makes them unique from anyone else. The body types (doshas) are known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Let’s take a look at them and then we will discover your unique body type with a body type questionnaire. Once you discover your body type, you will then start to cater your Dragonfly Transformation program around your unique makeup. Let’s get started on your Dragonfly Transformation!
