What You Will Get

  • Welcome Section : A short introduction to the instructor Annette Broy and instructions on how to use the program along with links to the 6 Educational PDF's that include Ayurvedic recommendations for back pain relief.
  • Module 1 Video :  Basic Back Anatomy is where you will learn about the structures of the spine and muscle groups. In addition we will discuss how and where the nerves exit out of the spinal column and their important function in the body.  We will clarify the 5 movements of the spine and discuss examples of yoga postures that you can include in your yoga practice to enhance your range of motion for spinal health.
  • Module 2 Video : Common issues of the back.  We discuss common reasons for back pain, different types of surgeries along with common postural problems and how to improve these issues with yoga and lifestyle changes.  We also discuss energetic blockages of the chakra system that could be correlated to back pain issues. 
  • Module 3 Video : This video includes a live demonstration with a model to show how to recognize imbalances of the spine and how to safely complete a yoga practice to take you or your clients to a new level of health using yoga.
  • Module 4 Video : This is a complete 35 minute yoga practice for helping to reduce back pain and improve back health.  Modifications are also provided in this video.

This course qualifies Yoga Alliance registered yoga instructors for 3 CEU's.

CEU's for other health care providers will be available upon approval from qualifying agency.

Course Creator and Instructor Annette Broy, RN, CCM, E-RYT500, C-IAYT, CAP

Annette Broy RN, CCM, E-RYT500, C-IAYT, CAHC and CAP is co-owner of Dragonfly Ayurveda and yoga. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years and a Certified Case Manager for over 20 years. Her nursing career spans  a wide range of experience which includes operating as a Skilled Nursing Home Licensed Administrator, Neuro Trauma ICU nurse, founder of Kelnet Inc., a Managed Care Organization that specializing in workers comp case management in which she organized the care and wrote life care plans for castrophically injured clients. She also co-owned, with her husband Mike, Grace Health Services in which she contracted with the State of Missouri to care for seniors. Grace Health Services received a proclamation award from the State of Missouri for their outstanding work with Missouri seniors. Annette is an IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist that specializes in treating clients with traumatic injuries. Annette teaches yoga, private instructions, Ayurvedic Consults and herbal formulations and yoga therapy. Annette's specialty is working with clients who have sustained traumatic injuries and those who have chronic illnesses. Annette has practiced yoga for many years and has personally experienced the many benefits of yoga. Her personal daily sadhana practice is Ashtanga Yoga and meditation. Annette has also completed multiple half marathons, full marathons, triathlons and a 70.3 Half Ironman Triathlon. Annette believes that Ayurveda and yoga is a lifelong study and continues her education in Ayurveda and Yoga by attending workshops under world renowned teachers. Annette is a professional member of International Yoga Therapists, NAMA and Florida Association of Ayurveda.
